Glorified Misery

And you,

you will bring tears

tinted blood-red for people

who will become just names.

And I,

I will watch as

they still greet you, welcome you

like a god, because

you carry with you

wealth.

And you,

you will bring joy so

ever longing

lined with blatant

ignorance and blinding

patriotism.

And I,

I can do nothing but watch

as sacrifice becomes deemed as heroic;

while a life is traded for a life,

a soul for a soul,

a spirit for a spirit.

And you,

you will say you are the last.

Those words will come

sweet to their ears, like candy, but

I will no longer be deceived, for

I too believed you once.

And you,

you are so selfish,

sprouting from the blood-soaked soil

while talking about peace

and the greater good,

raising hellfire

while you promise millions

ascension to heaven.

And you,

you say you grant people

a better life,

while we,

we continue to live

in soulless bodies.
